I’ve been playing this game for years.  Almost non-stop ever since it came out.  The copyright says 2001 so I’m going to take a guess that’s when it came out.  It ranks up somewhere in my top five games, easily.  It’s so amazing, beautiful, and has action that will keep you going for…at least six years.

What game do I speak of?  Super Smash Bros. Melee.

It’s so wonderful.  Although I own a Gamecube, I’ve never actually owned the game.  I just “borrowed” it from Shadro for very long periods of time.  Now, as my residence is temporarily somewhere else, I live in a house that has a Wii, SSBM, and two GC controllers.  The one thing it lacks, however, is a memory card.  Today however, I gave in and decided I wanted to see how much I could get within a few hours.  Without rest I managed to get all but 3 characters (two of which I couldn’t get within the alloted time, the third I forgot how) a few stages, and completed more than half of the Event battles.

I was rather proud of myself.  I don’t know if it’s something you should be proud of, but I don’t care.

I regret to say, however, that despite my wonderful memory on the game, and my years of playing, I’m still no where near the best.  I learned that hard way that Luigi can be an aweful opponet in the right hands.  I’m also sad to say that Shadro can beat me as well (but only barely!)

Still, win or lose, the game is amazing.  If you have not heard of it or have never played it, I urge you to quickly find a copy and get engrossed in the awesomeness of it all.  It’s a fighting game for everyone.  I don’t even like fighting games.

As a quick side note, there’s a site doing daily updates for the new game, which comes out December 3rd.  Check it out.  It’s being done by one of the creators.
