I asked what I should blog about, and I got an answer; so hey why not do that topic. Thanks to TheBigN for thowing out the topic which I’m soon to kill and the topic came from another place as well being Cruel Angel Theses please don’t hurt me. So all will start under the cut, where I’m sure to mess this topic up.

All right, I’ll try to clear up moe, or at least for how it will be used. First off I’ll steal get some defections from sites and show those, then from that make a general one. Makes enough sense.

First off Wikipedia citation needed

Moe (萌え? mo’e, pronounced “mo-eh” literally ‘budding’, as with a plant) is a Japanese slang word originally referring to fetish for or love for characters in video games or anime and manga.

Next Anime News Network

Moe is a Japanese term used in connection with manga or anime to describe the ideal of youthful and innocent femininity. Written with the kanji for “to bud or sprout” (萌), the concept covers a narrow range of ideal behaviour for youthful female characters in manga or anime. To be properly moe, a character must be eager or perky, not overly independent, and call forth a desire in the viewer to protect them and nurture them.

And at this point I’m to lazy to find more, so I’ll work with this. Fist off notice that there is a difference between the 2. The Wiki one points to it as the slang term, while the News Network doesn’t. Though this does not mean that they don’t have some parts alike. To help it be seen more, lets take a look of what is under Moe Traits in the wiki.

Moe Features
The most common features include youthfulness as a physical trait (younger age or twintails) or as an emotional trait (naive or innocent outlook) and some obvious sympathetic weakness the character works hard to correct (extreme clumsiness or a life-threatening disease).

Now with that added to the fray, things start to come together. Though again I would like to point out the slang, this leads to the idea that it could be a given number of things. What one person believes to be Moe, could not be with another person. This leads to a problem, but it comes with fans of anything, agreeing on something is never easy. So in the end it will just have to be very general so few people will get angry, but thats if you ask me.

So now I will wow you with my awesome defination of Moe Not really though, please no flame

Moe - A Female (or maybe male, not sure yet) character that has specific traits (which can change from person to person) that cause a following of that character or something along those lines.

This is what I will be using, it is simple enough for me so I like it. Now that we have this onward to the topic of Lucky Star. Lucky Star the newish anime is said to be a Moe Anime, by some, here and there. Now can that really be said about the anime? Lets take a look.

Yes, in Lucky Star these ‘traits’ are in there, from glasses to ponytails to even so many more. That would take to much space to try to go though all that are present. So, with that it seems Lukcy Star is a Moe Anime, but I’m sorry I don’t think by that alone makes it that. Lucky Star is a comedy anime among other things, so I think it is just poking fun at the whole Moe thing. It very obvious that the traits are there and that there are so many, so by pointing all of them out and having so many lead to it making fun of the whole thing.

There are many other series that have the traits or whatever, but they are in all types of anime and they don’t really point them out or fill up with millions. So, those anime has Moe characters, but I don’t think there can be a such a thing as a Moe Anime. I only see it going as far as characters. Again this does come back to what people see moe is, but even then it goes deeper to just go with what traits people see. Lucky Star just happens to have a lot, so what? That doesn’t mean its Moe Anime. It is all for comedy if you ask me, since there is such much, and how Miyuki just seems to pile up those traits from glasses, to bad at cooking, to being forgetful and all of that. Ok, its there and thats all to it. Doesn’t make it a Moe Anime because of it.

A Moe Trait/Traits, so?

Lucky Star is a comedy anime and thats about it if you ask me. So, it has a lot of stuff from other animes and brings in some of the terms like Moe, but in the end a lot of that is happen to make fun of it. Like when a gift was a SOS band, and a To Heart outfit. Even to when it brings in a PS2, and MMOs, it is all to poke fun at really. So that is what I think, thank you for reading and good night/day/afternoon!
