Welcome back to Skmajeh’s Manga Corner. Today, I will be writing about the ‘Sneak Peek’ of Hoshin Engi.
Hoshin Engi is all about a kid who is training to be some sort of warrior. His name is Taikobo, and for all his ‘training’ he can’t really fight too well. This is most likely because instead of actually training, he sleeps all day. Taikobo is sent on a mission to banish a bunch of demons(1) to a different realm.
He is sent to Earth(2) on this quest mainly because he needs the training. This reminds me, Taikobo’s master looks disturbingly like the headmaster in Negima. Anyways The very first being Taikobo fights ends up being one of the strongest, but with luck Taikobo manages to survive the encounter.
Some of the creatures in this are really weird, and a lot of the characters(3) look like clowns, but without the noses and makeup. All in all it is really freaky, but kinda good at the same time, so this preview of the sneak peak gets a 3/5.
P.S. I know this was really short, but what can I do when there is only 1 chapter?
- Meh, they aren’t referred to as demons, but I like to use comfortable words.
- They live in a world that is something like heaven.
- I am serious. There are definitely clown peeps in here.

Hrm, I didn’t know there was an anime. Well, this kinda sucks, as I am currently watching Blood+ Japanese version, as well as Tokyo Mew Mew, and Shuffle, and Buso Renkin. I don’t know if I will be able to watch it anytime soon, but I will look into it.
Thanks.

He’s not a kid. He’s 72 years old! He’s a Taoist Immortal in training.
The anime was released by ADV under the title ‘Soul Hunter’ but the manga is WAY better. Just don’t take everything said as face value
Taikoubou is not the useless idiot he looks like at first hehehe.

XD, ok I didn’t know how old he was, though I might not have been paying enough attention. And yea, I assumed he had some backbone, due to the fact that he deflected an attack by a very powerful being.
