Well here it is the first episode of Lucky Star has come and I have used this to give my friend a chance of his own to do the blog thing. So without further wait here is Stonebear’s thoughts on Lucky Star Episode 1 (with me doing pictures because I’m like the only person who can figure it out, lol).

Lucky Star episode one sets up a real tough act to follow. Maybe not so much the quality, but anyone having to sit through that is going to burn out a lot of brain cells. Don’t take me wrong the show isn’t bad. In fact I enjoyed every moment of it.

This show follows the daily exploits (or rather lack of them) of four high school girls Konota Izumi, Miyuki Takara, and sisters Tsukasa and Kagami Hiiragi. Lucky Star is one of those “day in the life of” anime, and therefore lacks even the shadow of a plot.

Konota is a sophomore, although she nor any of the other girls look it, how is the shows mandatory idiot-Self centered, controlling, and rather dense- my instant favorite. If your caught in a loop watching the OP, and don’t worry its normal, I was stuck there for at least two hours, she is the one with the long blue hair.

Miyuki is the smart member of the group. She is in the same grade as Konota and Tsukasa. A total klutz, she refuses to wear contacts, preferring her glasses, for fear of putting things in her eye. Generally caring, she is the glue that keeps Konota from driving the other girls crazy.

Tsukasa while not exceptionally bright, she tops Konota intellectually. Apparently Konota and Tsukasa have been friends since they where… about the age they look. Her older sister is Kagami. She claims to have friends her own age, yet still comes to hang out with the her sister and Tsukasa’s friends at lunch. She is at odds with Konota, even though they are similar then she may care to admit

As this is the first episode I can’t speak for the whole series, but I’m willing to bet that Lucky Star never develops a plot. After all, plots only take attention away from the characters, right? The show reminds me so far of a combination of Azu Manga Dioh and my high school buddies. The art style is extremely odd and helps to lend the show its distinct air of “trippy-ness”. There was no possible way there weren’t drugs involved in the creation of this little masterpiece, I’d stake money on it (not mine of course, but Shadro’s wallet is getting pretty heavy). Shadro Edit: BECAUSE I HAVE A JOB

All in all I give this show 12 lick-able frogs out of 5. However, anyone looking for a serious story, there’s the door, goodbye.
