So, thanks to a well (or not) played out plan episode 4 was done before episode 3. So…take it is you will it could be the start of the rebellion against me or a number of other things, but none of that is dealing with Air Gear so away we go.

So this episode of Air Gear had a lot of background info really. It went though how the teams are ranked and why it is done in a pyramid and so on. Also it even goes as far as explains why Ikki’s wheels are so messed up.

This is also the episode where the Parts War was introduced, though it isn’t really used much after this, it does show that there are other battles than just with the emblem. In this episode there is the first appearance of Buccha and the strange changes in personality he has. This is also one thing I think that was done right with the art style (not that it is bad) is that it changes a bit when a character’s personality changes. It can be seen with Ikki a number of times throughout the series, but in this episode it is done with Buccha a lot as well.
These early episodes really are for getting use to the important characters and how they act with one another. It isn’t hard to see that Ringo dislikes Simca and so on.

Overall, this episode is all right. It won’t blow anybody away, but it adds to the story and the way the world works well. It leaves the end on a cliff hanger and keeps making the viewer wanting more.
