Well here it is, the start of the revisit to Air Gear. I’m blogging this because well, right before the blog started, this is what I was watching and hey, I want to blog it. So there, just sit there and read it, if you could of course.

Ringo

Ringo

The first episode starts off with an ‘Air Treck’ video. What is a better way to introduce the physic defying jet skates. Then moving right on to the introduction of characters, most of them causing harm to our main guy Ikki. The ones causing the harm (from oldest to youngest) Rika, Mikan, Ringo, and Ume.

After that Ikki runs out of the house, there is a flashback to Ikki’s fight against the Skull Riders who are a stormrider group, and stormriders are people who use ‘Air Treck’. Ikki…he didn’t do well, he got beat badly. Ringo then is sent to find Ikki, but it isn’t really hard because there are always crows where he is. After meeting up with Ikki, they watch a girl on ATs (’Air Trecks’) go past.

Now flash foward to dinner. The girls get meat and Ikki…well he gets almost nothing. One thing leads to the next and Ikki is jumping across to steal food. For him it doesn’t end well, he is beat again. Later he tries to get his revenge by getting into the bath house, but fails there too. Though he decides to go into the “do not enter” room and he finds…wait for it…ATs. So Ikki takes off with a pair of those, a Sleeping Forest emblem, and sticker.

Now Ikki tires to learn ATs, and he doesn’t do that bad. Makes a few mistakes here and there, in the end he ends up at a shop for stormriders. The owner notices the emblem and gives him a guide who is an old man to take him to the stormrider meeting.

At the meeting Ikki meets that girl he is always watching. She is Scima, and Ikki wants to put a sticker on her like everyone else. He does it, but by not knowing it starts a challenge against the Skull Riders. Before that can start though, the police come and try to catch the stormriders. This is where Akito is seen for the first time. Everyone gets away and then the challenge starts.

At the beginning Ikki is being beat, but Ringo, Ume, and Mikan come to even the odds. Thus the episode ends with a close race between Ikki and the leader.

Overall, it is a good episode. If anything it moves stuff too fast, but it doesn’t bother me too much. I just happen to love the concept.
