Here is a new one, Venus Versus Virus. I watched this and I saw references to other animes all over. That isn’t a bad thing at all though. This episode was really a good first episode. The series seems to be another demon killing like Chrono Crusade and D. Gray Man, and such.

Ruchia

Ruchia

The episode stars off with the main character loading her six-shot revolver (that is so Chrono Crusade). Then she takes down some evil stuff, it shows shadows so you assume there. It doesn’t really matter, she comes out and she holds her gun up showing ammo is out to her partner. But hey, she has a knife too, so its all good.

Now it shifts to the other character Sumire, who is a school girl. So now we follow her as she is late, so she says. So she takes off bumping into people along the way, until she arrives at her destination. She is greeted by the girl from the beginning and her name is Ruchia. Ruchia tells Sumire that there is a client and they head downstairs.

Now we meet Risa, who tells her story of what has happen. She sees this shadow thing and after that all her friends go missing. Ruchia sees this to be a virus attack, so she decides to look into it. So off they go.

As soon as everyone makes it to where Risa first saw everything it goes into a talk explaining a lot about…everything. It talks about the Viruses, which are demons really..ok more like evil spirits and how Ruchia and Sumire hunt them. It also explains not all people can see them. Now while looking around Sumire and Risa were attacked by the virus.

Then we go back to the HQ where Sumire is being patched up. During this Ruchia is in another room with Risa. Now she takes the eye patch so her eye can scan for the virus (so D. Gray Man there). But anyway it doesn’t go the best and Ruchia ends up on the ground in pain screaming. The others rush in to help, but she says she is OK. It seemed she had figured everything out from them.

Now during the night Ruchia wakes up from a nightmare, and asks herself about the eye. The old man walks in and helps, and we also figure out he is Ruchia’s father. Now over at Risa’s house Sumire is there armed with a not-as-cool-as-Ruchia handgun to protect Risa. Though…she falls asleep and the Virus comes out of Risa and goes to attack Sumire. Lucky for her, Sumire is there to save her. Sumire explains that she saw the Virus in Risa because of her eye. So to get it to come out, Sumire uses Ruchia as bait. From the looks of it Sumire is used as bait quite a bit. Now Ruchia explains the bullets she uses, they seem to be the vaccine for the Virus.

The Virus, after being shot, breaks to the outside where it becomes stronger. This is because the Virus is an earth type. So now the true battle begins. The Virus gets Ruchia unarmed and traps her. The Virus asks her to become a Virus, but due to the fact Ruchia’s mother was killed by a Virus, that is a no. Now here comes Sumire unloading a clip on the Virus and missing every single shot (I’m sorry, that screams Chrono Crusade to me). Though she missed…every one, it gives time for Ruchia to get her gun back and put one in the back of the Virus’ head. Thus the Virus is defeated and Ruchia is going to put Sumire through gun training.

Well guess what? I lied about the death of the Virus, it comes back and takes Sumire hostage. What is Ruchia to do? Well she shoots Sumire and she doesn’t die. Instead Sumire becomes a living anti-virus and owns the Virus. However there is one problem, after the Virus is dead Sumire still wants to go on a killing spree and Ruchia is the only person there. Thankfully Sumire reverts back just in time. Then there is this tincampy looking thing (see D. Gray Man again) spying on them. We see these mysterious looking people watching and…thats that end.

Overall, it was a good episode. It is a must if you like your action against demons and your guns old fashion. Or just action and guns. Or girls with guns…I think you get the point.
